Whether you’re broke on a weekend or stuck at home during a holiday break for whatever reason, it doesn’t mean you can’t have any fun at all. Staying in does not have to be so lifeless! Some TV-screen time is a great way to escape the boredom. A movie marathon of adventure films sounds way better than hitting the club on a Friday night.
Here’s a shortlist of Adventure Films for Thrill Seekers in no particular order, of what you can enjoy with or without popcorn at home.
1. Ender’s game (2013)
The young Ender Wiggin is separated from his siblings. He leads the fight against the Formics, an alien race that has almost wiped out the entire human race in the past. (114 minutes)
2. Inception (2010)
An unusual thief acquires valuable information and corporate secrets by extracting them from people’s minds while in their dreams. He must plant an idea into a target’s mind or use inception for a chance at redemption. (148 minutes)
3. Tracks (2013)
Robyn Davidson, a young woman from Brisbane along with her camels and Diggity, her most faithful dog, travels across the West Australian desert. (112 minutes)
4. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011)
Oscar Schell suffers from Asperger Syndrome. He and his father round New York City playing scavenger hunt to find interesting objects. Oscar sets out finding the key that can open a lock his father has left behind after his untimely death. (129 minutes)
5. Sherlock Holmes (2009)
An old nemesis returns. Now, Detective Sherlock Holmes must deal with deceit, murder, and the dark arts. Reunited with a previous flame, Irene Adler, Holmes solves the mystery along with his most trustworthy friend, Dr. John Watson. (128 minutes)
6. Hanna (2011)
Fifteen-year-old Hannah lived in Finland with her father who has trained her to become an assassin. She is tracked down by a corrupt intelligence agent who has abducted her father to gain knowledge to a secret that must not become known. (111 minutes)
7. Life of Pi (2012)
The son of a zookeeper, Pi recounts his adventure surviving a tragedy at sea as a young man. This happened when a storm wrecked their ship that was headed to Canada. Pi finds himself with a few animals and has formed a bond with an unlikely friend. (127 minutes)
8. Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
Max, an imaginative young boy, runs away from home after a misunderstanding with his sister and after feeling rejected by his mother. With his wolf costume, he reaches an island full of wild creatures who thought of him as their king. Max as king magically solves the creatures’ problems. (101 minutes)
