It’s summertime in the Philippines, and to be honest, it’s not that happy because of the pandemic, you cannot go out, swim at the beach, have fun in the mall, or just go to the province and relax. Most of us get hot-headed because of these reasons, so here’s a quick tip to reduce aggression on hot weather.
Losing your cool or temper is not a good thing, so it’s best to be aware whenever there’s a trigger, and you should also know how you can cool down on hot weather.
Plenty of fluids
Well, of course, drink more WATER! Now that the weather is hot, it essential to stay hydrated.
Symptoms of dehydration are dry mouth, nausea and vomiting, lightheadedness, and a lot more. Doctors advise to drink 8-10 glasses of water daily, and if the temperature is rising, then you need to follow the recommendation or drink more.
For some, they advise drinking cold or chilled drinks; it’s a relief to drink something cold in hot weather. However, it can send your body into shock; it thinks that the stomach is going hypothermic and so it takes warm blood and send it to the stomach. You can still drink cold water, but only in sips and room temperature water is always better for fast rehydration.
Adequate Sleep
Human behavior tends to be more aggressive when they lack sleep; everything is very annoying, irritable, and will trigger you to explode any minute. So, it’s best to have a good night’s sleep; however, it’ll be hard to sleep when it’s so hot, So use a fan on your bedroom and open windows if possible. It’s best to have 7-9hours of sleep in adults and 10-13 hours of sleep in school-aged children.
Clothing
Imagine you are wearing think clothes in this hot weather, what would you feel? You’ll feel irked in some way and just want to take it off! Right? So, it will be best to wear cottony, breathable and lightweight clothes. I also suggest to wear white or light-colored clothes, avoid the dark ones, I don’t know, it feels hot whenever you wear black or dark shades of clothes.
Self-Awareness
Aggression is hostile or violent behavior or attitudes toward another readiness to attack or confront. Once you feel angry or aggressive, try to control yourself, relax. Focus on calming your mind. Think of happy thoughts, and sometimes negativity contributes to your aggression when you notice that your train of thought is toward negative, then its best to shake it off. You may blame the hot weather because it makes you feel uncomfortable. So do things that will make you feel calm and comfortable.
