Everyone experiences bullying— that’s the sad truth. What’s more unfortunate is that some of the bullies don’t realize the impact of their actions and words in the long run. They don’t even realize that they are bullies themselves. (image source)
Bullying is when people intentionally use hurtful words and actions against someone. Bullying causes an array of problems towards the victim including emotional distress, physical injuries, and trauma. Sometimes, it’s even fatal.
Bullying can also cause the victim to feel guilt and lessen their self-esteem. Bullying is a problem that exists not only in school. It exists in workplaces, homes, and online. Cyberbullying is a new form of bullying that uses the internet and social media platforms to hurt other people.
It is a problem that can be solved if people are more empathetic towards each other. We have to be aware of our actions and words and their consequences when we direct them to other people. Some of what we say might offend other people. Which is why we should always consider each other’s feelings and thoughts.
If you’re a victim of bullying:
Remember that your safety and happiness is what matters. As a living and breathing human being, you have the right to be free from mental, emotional and physical violence and the right to a safe work environment. Talk to someone you know and trust. Support from other people is important
