She posted on her Twitter account that she was “impressed by the courage of protesters” when she visited Hongkong.
I have nominated the people of Hong Kong, who risk their lives and security every day to stand up for freedom of speech and basic democracy, to the Nobel Peace Prize for 2020 I hope this will be further encouragement to the movement: #StandWithHongKong https://t.co/HffCZcbwfc

With what’s happening in Hongkong with the democratic protests, police brutality, and the overall political crisis, Melby hoped that the nomination would encourage and strengthen the protesters for their cause.
