Do you want to know how to take care of your cats? They are amazingly easy to care for. (image source)
Cats are wonderful creatures. First of all, they’re freaking adorable. I am unable to trust people who aren’t moved at the sight of a cat stretching their paws with their little toe beans spread out.
Cat lovers know what I’m talking about.

Cats are also incredibly soft, warm, and snuggly. Who wouldn’t want to experience having a ball of warmth by their sides? Monsters, obviously. Just kidding. However, if you want to add a cat to your household, there are a few things you need to learn about them and their needs. They’re mostly independent but they still need tender love and care from us.
Here’s what you need to know before getting a cat.
Get your cat vaccinated
Cats also need to get their shots to prevent diseases and to keep them healthy. The rabies vaccine is among the most important vaccines to get your cat. It’s also preferable that you take your cat to a trusted veterinarian and have them do regular check-ups for your furry friend.
Give your cat fresh water every day
To prevent dehydration, you should provide fresh water for your cat daily. Filtered water is the best option instead of just giving your cat regular tap water. Tap water may not be suitable for pets as it is for humans when you think about the possible health risks.
Groom your cat regularly
Although cats can keep themselves clean, it is also a good practice to groom cats. You may trim their nails or brush their fur to prevent hairballs when they groom themselves. Bathe your cat only when it’s necessary.
Clean the litter box daily
No one, even your pets, would love to relieve themselves in a dirty and nasty place. Make it a habit to clean the litter box at least once a day. Top off the litter every two days or so to keep it fresh. Also, choose a litter that would suit your cat. It’s the best way to look after your cat
Spay or neuter your cat
By spaying or neutering your cat, you eliminate the risk of any reproductive or urinary diseases. According to APCSA, there are also some behavioral benefits in spaying or neutering your cat. It can also solve the problem of overpopulation in cats.

Cat litter
There are plenty of cat litters available in pet stores. However, wood litter, in my opinion, is better than the other types. It’s biodegradable, and it doesn’t stink. Watch this to know more.
Grooming/flea comb
While cats can groom themselves, they might find it hard to remove fleas in their fur. It’s better to help them but keep it gentle.
Nail clippers
Look for trimmers that are specifically designed for cats. You can ask your vet for recommendations and a tutorial on how to trim your cat’s nails properly.
Cat toys
Cats are playful and active. You can save money by making the cat toys yourself.
Cat carrier
You will need a durable and size-appropriate cat carrier for when you need to travel with your cat.
