Within Minecraft, there are plenty of things to do. However, aside from mining, building epic structures, and exploring the Minecraft universe, there is a certain feature that animal-loving gamers would appreciate. Animals on Minecraft can be tamed and become you Minecraft pets. For this guide, we’ll teach you how to tame a cat on Minecraft in three easy steps.
You can own your own cat in this game, which is considered a new type of mob that is independent of the ocelot, however, there are stray cats roaming around in the game, which you could tame too. In taming a cat you have to have the materials: Raw Cod and Raw Salmon.
If you already have the materials needed, you are now on your search for a stray cat to tame. TIP: If you can’t find any, you may summon a cat using a cheat or by using a spawn egg.
If you already found one, give the cat a fish (raw cod or raw salmon).
TIP: Game control
For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right-click on the cat.
For Pocket Edition (PE), you move your pointer over the cat and press the Tame button.
For Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
For PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
For Windows 10 Edition, right-click on the cat.
For Education Edition, right-click on the cat.
If you have seen a gray smoke appear above the cat after you have to feed it, the cat is not yet tamed. Continue to feed the cat with raw fish until red hearts appear around the cat, which means that the cat is now tamed. When the hearts start to disappear, it indicates that the cat is now tamed and will behave like your pet.
Well done! You have successfully tamed a stray cat in Minecraft.
