The first few months of 2020 got us real bad. The government canceled flights, banned domestic and international travels, and even shut down schools and business establishments. And in a short amount of time, our entire world was held to a stand-still.
But this year, despite the lingering effects of the pandemic and the current quarantine restrictions still in place, we’re all hopeful that things are gonna get better. This hope has even given birth to a new term, “revenge travel” which refers to the travel period people will try to make up for lost vacations.
And what’s the best way to kickstart your revenge travel? Start local.
Family Travel Destinations for 2021
You don’t have to go for grand and expensive vacations abroad to make up for the lost time. A little road trip nearby with your kids can help rejuvenate your soul and give you a much-needed break. So, here are five vacation destinations you can visit with your kids in 2021:
Spacio Caliraya Bed & Breakfast
Spacio Caliraya is a bed and breakfast located at Caliraya in Lumban, Laguna. It offers an exceptional vacation experience despite only being a few hours away from Metro Manila. It has a garden and a pool accessible between 6:30 am to 10:00 pm. It’s a perfect place to unplug and unwind for only ₱5,500/night. According to an Airbnb review, vacationist Ron says “The place is very nice, peaceful, and quiet. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay.”

People’s Park in the Sky
If you’re from Manila, People’s Park in Tagaytay is one of the easiest and the best places to travel with kids. It’s a popular destination among tourists and is only about a two-hour drive from Metro Manila. The park offers a picturesque view of the Taal Volcano, being the highest point in Cavite province (2,326 feet atop Mt. Sungay). You can enjoy simple activities here that you can’t do in Manila. Things like walking around, taking pictures, and enjoying the fresh air. Also, don’t forget to try their famous taho and explore other parts of Tagaytay.
Baguio
Any “best family travel destinations lists” will never be complete without the Summer Capital of the Philippines – Baguio. You can beat the heat of the Metro just by driving a few hours up north. If you don’t have a car, carpool services or vehicle rentals would be a great idea. In the city proper alone, there are already a handful of family-friendly places you can go to. The classics, of course, are Burnham Park and The Mines View Park.

Pico de Loro is a perfect vacation destination for both big and small families.
Fortune Island
Batangas is rich in magnificent beaches making it one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country. Another one of its pride is the Fortune Island located in Nasugbu, Batangas. The island boasts of a unique grandeur as it used to be a luxurious private island home to Grecian statues. Now, it’s one of the famous tourist spots in the whole of the province.
In here, you can enjoy the Instagrammable scener, try snorkeling, or diving. If the weather is good, you can also explore the nearby cave via a canoe or a kayak.
